The Cherie and a living legend of the BC coast. I only knew him as “Greyhill”. A “remittance man“, he was reputed to have sailed single handed as far as Point Barrow in Alaska, and knew the coast like few others

The Teredo Navalis (my trimaran) and an interesting “conversion” resulting from the combination of an old double ender fishing boat with the top of a van body and a 58 chevy pickup cab making the topsides. This photo was taken in the southern part of the Charlottes (Haida Gwai) near Burnaby Island.

This is the “canoe” of The Starship and the Canoe, built by George Dyson at Balcarra in the early 70s. He now builds kayaks in Bellingham, WA as well as researching and writing historical works.

The boatbuilding “establishment” of a couple of boat hippies on Burnaby Island in the Queen Charlotte Islands in 1977. The plastic windowed building housed a Bristol Channel Cutter in progress, the wood all from beachcombed lumber, sawn with a chainsaw mill and hand planed.
